AITKIN-An Aitkin woman was treated Tuesday for non-life-threatening injuries when the Chevrolet Suburban she was driving struck a school bus on Dove Street and 334th Lane in Aitkin County.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported a school bus, driven by John P. Appel, 58, Aitkin, was stopped eastbound on Dove Street with lights flashing and the stop arm out. The Suburban also was eastbound on Dove Street behind the bus. The state patrol reported the Suburban failed to stop, swerved to miss the bus and struck the rear driver's corner on the school bus. None of the 14 children on the bus, ranging in grades from second to 10th grade, were taken to the hospital.

Driving the Suburban was Nicole R. Laird, 38, Aitkin, who was transported to Riverwood Aitkin Clinic.
The Aitkin County Sheriff's Office assisted the state patrol with the crash reported at 3:56 p.m.
