About $6,000 worth of methamphetamine was confiscated Monday when law enforcement officials located a 27-year-old Brainerd man with warrants for his arrest.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office reported at 2:30 p.m. Monday, the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division was in search of Brandon Paul Shaw, wanted for arrest warrants on several charges currently pending in the court system.

According to a news release, Shaw was located at a home on the 17000 block of Terratrac Road, north of Brainerd. When LADID agents entered the home, they apparently observed drug paraphernalia. After placing Shaw under arrest, the team secured a search warrant for the home, locating more than 2 ounces of meth and $1,600 in cash. Street value of the meth was an estimated $6,000, according to officials.

Shaw has a long history of contact with law enforcement and is "well known" to LADID, the release stated. Shaw is on probation with the Minnesota Department of Corrections for third-degree assault. Warrants for Shaw's arrest originated from a probation violation, disorderly conduct, gross misdemeanor false name to a peace officer, second-degree possession of a controlled substance and third-degree sale of a controlled substance.

Shaw, in custody at the Crow Wing County Jail, was expected to face charges from his most recent arrest Wednesday, March 14, in Crow Wing County District Court.
