DULUTH, Minn-- A Duluth man was sentenced Thursday to 20 years in prison for his role in a home invasion in Rice Lake last year where he and another man wore masks and tried to steal firearms..

Sixth Judicial District Judge Eric Hylden sentenced Guy Robert Franklin Rabold, who turned 25 on Thursday, after Rabold pleaded guilty in February to aiding and abetting aggravated first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, felon in possession of a firearm and theft of a motor vehicle.

Authorities said Rabold and co-defendant John Scott Sorenson entered a home in the early hours of June 5, 2015. The homeowners reported that two masked men, armed with guns, broke into their home and entered the bedroom as they slept. The woman was able to dial 911, but was not able to speak with the dispatcher before the suspects approached her.

The victims told authorities that the suspects repeatedly threatened them and forced them to strip naked. They were forced to the basement, where a gun safe was located. The male resident was forced to open the safe and the suspects collected the contents.

Rabold was intercepted and arrested by a responding deputy as he left the residence. Sorenson was arrested a short time later when a K-9 tracked him down in the woods about 50 yards from the home.
