Brainerd Lakers United for the Environment, Brainerd Area Coalition for Peace, and the Brainerd High School Eco Club are sponsoring an Earth Day event 10 a.m. April 27 at Gregory Park in Brainerd.
This is a family friendly event. Starting at 10 a.m., there will be a march to Washington Street with signs supporting a clean Earth. Participants may bring their own sign or one will be provided.
A picnic will follow in Gregory Park, weather permitting. Otherwise, the group will meet in the First Congregational Church Fellowship Hall, across the street from the southwest corner of the park. There will be live music, and speakers will include the Rev. Leslie Moughty of the First Congregational Church, as well as Eleanor Burkett of the Nature Conservancy.
Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues, and Earth Day 2019 is Monday, April 22.
