Four high school students in Little Falls and Pierz were nominated for the ExCEL-Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership Award.

Little Falls High School nominated Katherine Corbett and Aidan Kray and Pierz Healy High School nominated Katelyn Becker and Jacob Andres for the ExCEL Award. Sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League, ExCEL is a recognition program designed for Minnesota high school juniors. Students who are active in fine arts and/or athletic activities, who show leadership qualities, and who are model citizens in their community are eligible for the

ExCEL Award recipients are selected through a multi-level process that involves League member schools and an independent panel of judges from schools throughout Minnesota.

Corbett, the daughter of Tim and Bridget Corbett, participates in choir, basketball, Nordic

skiing, swimming and track and field. Kray, the son of Ryan and Stephanie Kray, participates in band, golf, clay target shooting and soccer.

Becker, the daughter of Robert and Kelly Becker, is involved in tennis, pit band, pep band, Minnesota Honor Society, Knowledge Bowl, Student Athletic Leadership Team, Encouraging Positive Influence and Choices and peer helping. Andres, the son of Mike and Carolyn Andres, is involved in cross country, wrestling, track, concert choir, jazz choir, Student Council, Encouraging Positive Influence and Choices and peer helping.
