Smith nominates Fort Ripley student to U.S. Air Force Academy
U.S. Sen. Tina Smith, D-Minn., announced Monday, March 18, she nominated Ethan Hebert of Fort Ripley for admission to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
If chosen for an appointment by the academy, Hebert, the son of Carrie and Jeremy Hebert, would join the U.S. Air Force Academy class of 2023 and would enter the academy this summer.
"I am very pleased to nominate Ethan Hebert to the U.S. Air Force Academy," Smith stated in a news release. "Each year, I nominate several talented young Minnesotans to our nation's military academies because of their strong character, academic and athletic achievements and demonstrated leadership ability. I have no doubt that Ethan has the ability to excel at the U.S. Air Force Academy and become a successful future leader in our nation's military."
Hebert currently attends Brainerd High School where he participates in cross-country, swimming and diving and track and field. He also serves as a lifeguard and swim instructor.
Each year, Smith nominates qualified young Minnesotans to the U.S. Service Academies, including the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The individual service academies make the final admission decisions and begin notifying nominees of their status in February.
