Two area high school seniors received $500 scholarships from Deerwood Technologies.

Madison Midthun, Crosby-Ironton, and Shelby Coombs, Aitkin, earned the scholarships, which are given to students with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher who must submit an essay of 100 words or less answering the question: "How can technology benefit disadvantaged individuals, societies and countries?"

Applicants also provided their community involvement and volunteer activities. An employee committee "blind referees" student scholarship applications to select annual recipients.

Deerwood Technologies' scholarships are 100% funded through events promoted, coordinated and staffed by employees and their families.
