The Brainerd lakes area branch of the American Association of University Women is seeking applicants interested in attending the National Conference of College Women Student Leaders, set May 27-30 at the University of Maryland-College Park campus.

Two scholarships of up to $1,000 will be offered to cover basic costs of convention registration, lodging and transportation.

Applications are due Jan. 15. Interested women are encouraged to contact Pat Scott at patwat@charter.net or 218-515-0969 to express interest and acquire an application.

The conference is designed to enhance the leadership skills of college women and to promote effectiveness in their work on campus and in their community. In three days, the delegates will participate in educational workshops, learn and practice networking skills, explore graduate school and career fairs, hear from inspirational speakers at the Women of Distinction ceremony and join the AAUW community, a family of more than 170,000 people worldwide.

After the conference, participants are expected to write a summary of their experiences and are invited to present at an AAUW branch meeting.

Applicants must be 18 years old or older and a Minnesota sophomore, junior or senior college student.

The scholarships are co-sponsored by the Women’s Leadership Fund, AAUW-MN and the AAUW Brainerd Lakes Area branch.
