Emily fire claims lives of man and his dog

The body was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office to be identified and to determine the cause of death.

EMILY — The body of a rural Emily man was pulled out of a trailer home Monday, Feb. 15, after a fire destroyed the home.

The Emily Fire Department was called to the fire at 4:21 a.m. on the 24000 block of Crow Wing County Highway 1 in Little Pine Township.

Crow Wing County Sheriff Scott Goddard said the man and his dog were inside at the time of the fire and didn’t make it out. The body was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office to be identified and to determine the cause of death.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office will assist the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the cause of the fire.

North Memorial Health Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
