Jodi Banks, an Emily girl described as having fantastic leadership and excellent resiliency, is the recipient of the 2016 American Red Cross Minnesota Region Volunteer Services Award for Youth Volunteer Leadership.
The award recognizes Banks for her outstanding record of leadership as a youth volunteer, shown through her maturity at the age of 13 in the face of disaster, a news release stated.
In her nomination, many people described Jodi as "an amazing, young lady."
"Everyone was so impressed by her, the way she spoke, and how she conducted herself. Even when disaster struck her hometown, Jodi was there everyday, helping to distribute water and ice. She has just the traits we look for in a youth volunteer leader," the release stated.
Apart from volunteering in the Red Cross, Jodi has continued to demonstrate her leadership attributes including registering others at a mock shelter while training at a Vigilant Guard exercise in Duluth to sharing her knowledge with others.
