Wondering about the new "no excuses" absentee voting policy? Confused about what kind of identification you need to present in order to register to vote in Minnesota? The League of Women Voters, Brainerd Lakes Area, will sponsor a presentation that will address those questions.
Deborah Erickson, Crow Wing County elections coordinator and taxpayer services manager, will explain recent changes in election law and help citizens navigate these changes from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Brainerd Public Library conference room.
Several steps were taken by the state Legislature last term to make absentee voting easier and to ensure the integrity of the election results.
Erickson has 19 years of experience as county elections coordinator. She also served as county auditor for more than five years. Erickson trains county election judges and prepares them to preside over the voting process. She's a source of election information for the community, league officials said.
Refreshments and a social hour are at 5:30 p.m. with the program at 6 p.m. There is no charge for the program and it's open to the public.
