Guardians who transport children under the age of 9 are invited to have their car seats inspected and installed by a nationally trained child passenger safety technician.

The Car Seat Clinic is from 4-7 p.m. Sept. 27 at Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center, 523 N. Third St. Brainerd, lower level parking area.

Bring a car seat installed in the car with the children, and the trained technicians will evaluate if the car seat is the proper size for the child, if it is installed properly, and answer questions about car seat safety. Be advised this is not a distribution site, participants must bring their own car seat or seats.

"The statistics are staggering," said Naomi Mowers, trauma coordinator at Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center, in a news release. "Nationally over 85 percent of kids are not restrained properly. Locally, 95 percent of the area's kids are not restrained properly. Essentia Health is excited to connect families with certified technicians to check seats and educate families on how to keep these precious lives safe."

Appointments are required and are scheduled every 30 minutes. Call 218-828-7652 for an appointment.
