This past week the contractor began working on the underground utilities on Excelsior Road west of the existing Edgewood Drive, project officials reported.

Excelsior Road was closed on Monday, Jne 25, from west of the existing Edgewood Drive to the Brenny Funeral Chapel driveways. A signed detour is in place for through traffic directing vehicles to Highway 371, Highway 210 and Englewood Drive.

Motorists are asked to be aware that the Brenny Funeral Chapel parking lot is not a cut-through for traffic to get to or from Excelsior Road to the west. Motorists are asked to follow the detour route. The Baxter Police Department is warning and ticketing people who don't obey the construction signing.

Over the next several weeks the contractor will continue working on Excelsior Road west of the existing Edgewood Drive working toward completion of the underground utilities. The contractor will also begin the final grading of the roundabout and a portion of the new Edgewood Drive connection. This will be the longest phase of the construction with Excelsior Road closed from west of the existing Edgewood Drive.

During the third week of July, CenterPoint Energy will replace its gas line on Excelsior Road from Highway 371 to Forest Drive. This will require some intermittent closures of Excelsior Road between Highway 371 and Edgewood Drive. More details will be provided as this work is scheduled.
