EVELETH - A 37-year-old Farmington, Minn., man was seriously injured Thursday night in a snowmobile crash in the Central Lakes area south of Eveleth, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office reported.
Joshua Harris was northbound on groomed trails when he lost control and struck several trees just before 8:30 p.m., the sheriff's office said. Members of his party discovered the accident and called for help. Several fire departments and ambulance services responded to assist in what was "a difficult rescue," sheriff's Sgt. James McKenzie reported in the news release.
Harris was transported to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth by North Memorial Air Care and underwent surgery. Officials said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
