A 17-year-old Isle teenager was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday, Sept. 2, south of Brainerd on Highway 25.
The Minnesota State Patrol was called to the crash, located south of Brainerd, at 10:05 a.m. According to the crash report, a Freightliner semitractor-trailer pulling a camper was traveling north on Highway 25 and the teen, driving a Chevy Celebrity, was traveling west on Crow Wing County Highway 2. The vehicles collided at the intersection.
The identity of the Isle teen is not being released until authorities notify family members. The state patrol reported the teenager was not wearing a seatbelt and the airbag didn't deploy during the crash.
The driver of the freightliner, Clayton J. Francis, 49, Big Lake, and his passenger, Kathryne Jo Francis, 47, Big Lake, were not injured.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial Health Ambulance assisted at the scene.
