The Brainerd Fire Department responded to multiple grass fires in a ditch early Friday morning on the 3200 block of Oak Street.
Before firefighters arrived shortly after 12:50 a.m., officers from the Brainerd Police Department extinguished two of the small fires. Eleven firefighters responded to extinguish the other fire, but were unable to determine the cause. The scene was cleared by 1:08 p.m.
At 1:20 p.m. Thursday, the fire department was called out to Mountain Ash Drive in Baxter for what was believed to be a grass fire. It turned out the smoky smell and haze were a result of a controlled burn at Camp Ripley.
