BACKUS-Fire destroyed a commercial building Wednesday, Jan. 23, on the 1500 block of Highway 371 Northwest in Powers Township in rural Backus.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office received a report at 7:56 a.m. of a structure fire and when responders arrived, the building was engulfed by fire. The cause of the fire is unknown and the investigation continues with the assistance of the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office.
The Backus and Hackensack fire departments, North Memorial Ambulance and Minnesota State Patrol were at the fire scene.
