Fire destroys garage during storm

A garage caught fire after the homeowner reported it was struck by lightning Sunday, July 14, north of Brainerd.

A report of a garage engulfed in flames on the 3000 block of Shady Lane Circle came over the police scanner about 7:40 p.m. Sunday. According to the scanner, flames plagued the attached garage, while smoke was also coming into the house. One person was reported to have been in the house at the time of the fire but got out uninjured.

The Brainerd Fire Department responded to another possible structure fire caused by a lightning strike later that night.

No other details were available late Sunday night.
