Fire destroys Nisswa garage
NISSWA — The Nisswa Fire Department responded to a garage fire about noon Friday, Dec. 20, on the 25000 block of Birch Street in Nisswa.
Upon arrival the garage was fully engulfed and flames were coming out of the roof, Nisswa Fire Chief Shawn Bailey said. Bailey said firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it made it to the nearby house. The garage was detached with about 8-feet separating it from the house.
Bailey said the fire ignited when people were working on a snowmobile in the garage.
The garage was a total loss. The garage along with the vehicles inside the garage, Bailey estimated it was about $90,000-$100,000 loss of property.
Nisswa called the Mission and Pequot Lakes fire departments for mutual aid and about 15 firefighters responded.
