The Brainerd Fire Department responded to a fire at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday on the 13000 block of Thompson Road in Brainerd.
The fire department stated the subject heard the breaker flip and then observed smoke in the upstairs bathroom. It appears the fire was started by a bathroom fan shorting out and then spread to the attic.
The fire caused about $15,000 in damages.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
