The Brainerd Fire Department responded to two calls Wednesday.
Firefighters were called at 12:07 p.m. to Maple Street and South 12th Street for a gas leak caused by an excavation crew. Firefighters provided standby assistance until the gas company controlled the leak.
Firefighters then were called at 8:46 p.m. to the 1400 block of Maple Street for a carbon monoxide alarm. Upon investigation, firefighters determined it to be a faulty detector.
