The Brainerd Fire Department responded to a fire alarm Thursday, Aug. 26, at Lowell Elementary School in Brainerd.
Firefighters were called at 5:15 p.m. to the school on Northeast Third Street. Upon investigation, it was determined to be a maintenance matter. Earlier Thursday at 2:56 p.m., firefighters were called to a report of smoke coming from the roof of a structure on the 19000 block of Crow Wing County Highway 3. It was determined to be steam coming off the roof.
On Friday, firefighters had two calls, with the first at 4:49 a.m for a vehicle fire on County Highway 3. Upon arrival, fire crews extinguished a fire in the engine area. Firefighters were called to assist with a two-vehicle crash at 11:18 a.m. on the 2000 block of Southeast 13th Street.
The Brainerd Police Department reported one driver, a 44-year-old woman, was transported by ambulance for minor injuries. The driver and the passenger of the other vehicle reported no injuries. Police reported one driver was issued a citation for failing to yield in the right of way to oncoming traffic.
