BAXTER-Firefighters are responding to a massive fire in Baxter.
Repeated explosions were heard fire as the fire engulfed Dean's Used Auto Parts on the 12000 block of Evergreen Drive. Flames were fanned by a strong winter storm wind creating blizzard conditions across central Minnesota. Those blizzard conditions also made it difficult for emergency responders.
Snowplows had to clear the street to allow emergency vehicles to reach the site.
Dean's was reported to be fully engulfed when the call came in reporting the fire about 6:16 p.m.
The Brainerd Fire Department responded along with law enforcement from Crow Wing County, Brainerd and Baxter. The Nisswa Fire Department was called for mutual aid. Emergency vehicles lined Evergreen Drive. Law enforcement blocked off both ends of the street.
