Firefighters respond to smoke smell and assist homeowner

The Brainerd Fire Department responded to a call at 8:12 a.m. Thursday to a residence on the 5700 block of Wedgewood Road in Baxter for a smoke smell. Firefighters investigated and learned it may have been a possible electrical issue and cleared at 8:34 a.m.

Firefighters also responded to a call at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday to a residence on the 700 block of Southwest Fifth Street for a residential assist. Firefighters assisted the homeowner with the heating element of her oven.
