BAXTER-A fire broke out at about 1 p.m. Monday, June 4, in the recycling area of Waste Management in the Baxter Industrial Park.

Cardboard and plastic bottles fed the flames that took firefighters about three hours to extinguish before business could resume.

No one was injured in the blaze and no one had to be evacuated from the site, according to Brainerd Fire Chief Tim Holmes.

Waste Management staff assisted in putting out the fire by using a payloader to move the recyclables around to make it easier for firefighters to extinguish the flames, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
