BAXTER — Fire destroyed a Baxter home during the early morning hours Sunday, Nov. 15.

The Brainerd Fire Department was called at 3:30 a.m. to the house fire on the 13000 block of Meredith Drive in Baxter.

The caller reported the house was engulfed in flames and that was the case when firefighters arrived, Brainerd Fire Chief Tim Holmes reported in an email. No one was home at the time of the fire and the home was a total loss. Holmes reported the estimated value loss of the home is $300,000.

The fire department, with assistance by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office, is investigating the cause of the fire, Holmes reported.

Firefighters put out the fire and made sure all the hot spots were extinguished by opening up walls or ceilings and cleaning up the damage the fire caused. About 17 firefighters responded to the fire and cleared the scene at 6:50 a.m. Sunday. Two firefighters stayed on scene until 11 a.m. to make sure the hot spots were out.
