STILLWATER - Former Cottage Grove City Council member Derrick Lehrke was sentenced to probation for a disorderly conduct conviction stemming from an altercation with his wife early this year.
Lehrke, 36, will be on probation for one year and must complete five days of community service.
Lehrke initially was charged with domestic assault after police were called to his home Jan. 29. Lehrke’s wife Autumn, a former Washington County commissioner, called 911 and told Cottage Grove officers her husband assaulted her during a fight that started with an argument over who would watch their son that morning, according to police and court records. She said she had been head-butted and punched.
However, Autumn Lehrke disputed details in the criminal complaint filed against her husband and then testified in court that the couple had argued but no physical struggle occurred.
Lehrke was acquitted of domestic assault in a court trial but convicted of disorderly conduct.

If Lehrke successfully completes probation, the disorderly conduct conviction will be downgraded to a petty misdemeanor.
