Essentia Health is holding a free education seminar on joint pain from 4-5:30 p.m., July 14, at The 40 Club Inn and Convention Center, 960 Second Street NW, Aitkin.
Local experts from the Joint Wellness Center at Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center and Northern Orthopedics have partnered to share information on warning signs and treatment options.
Topics include surgical and non-surgical treatment options by orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Christopher Metz of Northern Orthopedics, Ltd. While joint replacements used to be recommended only for people age 70 and older, many younger people now get the work done and experience lasting relief from the chronic pain of arthritis allowing them to return to the activities they enjoy.
Attendees will also hear a testimonial from a joint replacement patient sharing her personal journey, and learn stretching activities they can do at home from Mike Steichen, physical therapist and director of rehabilitation at Essentia Health St. Joseph's-Rehabilitation Clinic.
Everyone will have an opportunity to ask the experts questions. Light appetizers and beverages will be served.
