BAXTER-Free skin cancer screenings will be offered for Melanoma Monday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the Dermatology Professionals offices in Baxter to coincide with Melanoma / Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month, sponsored by the American Academy of Dermatology.
Participants are asked to call Dermatology Professionals at 218-454-7546 or 888-841-2897 to schedule a Melanoma Monday screening time. Providing these services will be Dr. Kristina Britton, Nicole Manecke, or Becky White, certified nurse practitioner.
Melanoma Monday is strictly a screening for skin cancer and the exams will be very quick. If treatment is required, an additional appointment will need to be scheduled for another day.
Gowns will not be provided, therefore, wearing loose clothing, shorts, or a bathing suit is recommended.
The screenings are a part of a national campaign to encourage early detection and teach prevention of skin cancer. More than one million new cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed in the United States this year. The academy's national detection and prevention program is in its 28th year and is designed to raise awareness of melanoma and urge Americans to regularly examine their skin for signs of this serious form of skin cancer.
