BROOKLYN PARK - A 3-year-old Brooklyn Park girl was found drowned in an apartment complex pool early Monday morning after a five-hour search.
Deputy police chief Mark Bruley said the young girl had been with a group of other children - family members and friends - when the group lost track of her. Bruley said she had been running back and forth between the pool and a nearby playground.
Family members, friends and apartment residents looked fo the girl for two hours starting about 8:15 p.m. before calling police. Police then joined the search about 10:20 p.m. and also went door-to-door in the apartment complex.
About 1 a.m. Monday searchers found the girl in the bottom of the deep end of pool in water that had turned “really murky.”
“You couldn’t really see anything in the bottom 2 feet of the pool,” Bruley said in describing why it took so long to find her.
