The Crow Wing County Historical Society building needs a hug-literally.
Organizers of Brainerd History Week are asking residents to show up between 2-2:30 p.m. today, June 16, as part of the building's 100th birthday celebration. The goal is to create a chain of people surrounding the building-an estimated 110 people-to give it a birthday hug.
To participate, show up at 320 Laurel St. The birthday celebration will be 2-4:30 p.m. A short ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. Come for some cake and refreshments, exhibits and meet sheriffs from both past and present.
The museum, built in 1917, was once the Crow Wing County jail and sheriff's residence. The historical society has used the building since 1983.
