CROSSLAKE - The next Crosslake Chautauqua program is entitled "The Magic of Molten Glass" with presenter Steven Weagel.
The program is from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the Crosslake Community Center.
A local glass blower, Weagel will share his insight on the art of molten glass. He will discuss the history of glassblowing and studio art glass in the United States. He will illustrate the process, techniques, and equipment used to transform an inspiration into a work of art.
Weagel is expected to discuss gathers, blowpipes, annealing, glory holes, blocks, jacks, and paddles - all parts of the ancient, arcane art of glassblowing. He will chronicle the history of glassblowing and the tradition of studio art glass in the United States.
Admission to the program is free.
