Joanne Broschofsky

Age: 50.

Employment: Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud.

Public office experience: Two four-year terms on the Pierz School Board.

What do you want to accomplish if elected? "In addition to regular school functions, Pierz has many new initiatives in process. It takes time to understand the various aspects of what school operations entails and considerable discussions have already occurred on details of these new initiatives as well. My goal would be to see things through to completion."

Specifically, how would you accomplish your goals? "With the number of projects that the Pierz School District is in the middle of, a lot of effort has been expended. For example, having just completed one year ago the new construction of additional classrooms at Pioneer, as well as a music classroom and fitness room at the high school, conversations of ongoing facility needs take place at most board meetings. Administration analyzes things very thoroughly to determine the best route to take along with the appropriate timing involved for the proposed changes. Continuing on as a school board member will allow me to finish what has been started."

What abilities or qualifications separate you from your competition? Why are you the best candidate for the job? "Having obtained a bachelor of science degree in accounting 28 years ago, I have worked in a wide variety of ways ever since in the field of finance, including a decade as a certified public accountant. My past experiences serve as a good background to draw on when dealing with the many considerations of keeping a school fiscally accountable and financially responsible with stable resources. Furthermore, as the organization I work for has contracts with many school districts for various services, I continue to grow in the understanding of knowing the benefits of the application of sound school policies."

Specifically, how would you accomplish your goals? "Having been an educator in the Pierz School District for 34 years, I believe that I have a unique insight on how an effective school district should operate. Pierz has a tremendous asset in its school system and I feel my background as an educator can promote a better working relationship with the administration, faculty, and staff."

What abilities or qualifications separate you from your competition? Why are you the best candidate for the job? "As an educator for 34 years, I feel that I understand the community and its educational needs. The vast majority of Pierz citizen's children have been students in my classroom. If elected, my promises are: I will listen to the constituents of the school district, I will maintain fiscal responsibility to insure that Pierz ISD No. 484 is a leader in education and I will always place the needs of our students first."
