Fifty Lakes: Council appoints election judges
In its Tuesday, July 10, meeting, the Fifty Lakes City Council agreed to the appointment of four election judges, according to the city's draft minutes.
After a request for a motion by mayor Tim Anick to appoint judges, the council agreed to appoint city clerk Karen Stern as head election judge while Bobbie Graham, Ann Raph and Lorie Johnson as judges for the upcoming election. Stern and Raph are to be paid their regular city employee wages, while Graham and Johnson will be paid $14 per hour.
The council also agreed to hire two part-time bartenders at $9.65 per hour. Stern initially requested the council hire Toni Buchite for the position, but that motion failed.
In other action, the council:
• Agreed to purchase a Lazer Z Series lawnmower from AAA Equipment, totalling $9,999.
• Approved a wage increase for maintenance supervisor Bill Bright to $24.80.
• Approved a payment of $11,339 to LMCIT for workers compensation insurance.
The council's August meeting has been rescheduled, and will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m.
