The Nisswa Fire Department started the new year with equipment purchases, receiving city council approval Wednesday, Jan. 9, to buy a turnout gear washer/dryer/extractor for $9,600.
The department raised funds to cover the cost.
The fire department also received permission to buy a Lucas Chest Compression System for $13,000.
Also at the Wednesday, Jan. 9, organizational meeting, the council made annual city, council liaison and commission/committee appointments.
Appointments include Gammello-Pearson, city attorney; Widseth Smith Nolting, city engineer; city of Brainerd, city prosecutor; Pineandlakes Echo Journal, official newspaper; BlackRidge Bank and Frandsen Bank, official depositories; Schlenner Wenner & Co., auditor; and PFM Financial Advisors LLC, financial manager.
Amber Moon Peterson was appointed to a vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission.
