Thinking and starting to plan for spring projects?
The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District has grant funds to help with spring and summer projects related to shoreline erosion and runoff problems.
The SWCD is looking for projects to keep water on the land and filter pollutant runoff through tree planting, shoreline buffers, rain gardens and other practices. The projects must have community involvement and address Crow Wing County water plan priorities and concerns.
Eligible applicants include schools, churches, neighborhood associations or lake associations, local businesses and nonprofit groups.
"The SWCD is excited to partner with Crow Wing County communities and have communities share what important clean water projects they have," said Melissa Barrick, SWCD district manager, in a news release.

All projects are required to match the grant funds by 25 percent (cash or in-kind value, such as materials, labor and equipment). Projects require a 10-year minimum lifetime and include a maintenance plan.
An interagency team will review, score and rank all applications. The team will include SWCD, Crow Wing County, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, The Nature Conservancy, the Mississippi Headwaters Board and University of Minnesota Extension.
Applications are due March 31. For application materials, visit crowwingswcd.org/grants/ or email tasha.lauer@crowwingswcd.org or call 218-828-6197.
Funds for the program are provided by the Minnesota Board of Soil and Water Resources through the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment of 2008.
