Greenwood woman injured in boat accident

A 21-year-old Greenwood woman suffered severe lacerations to her leg after a boat ran over her Saturday on Whitefish Lake, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office reported.

A 21-year-old Greenwood woman suffered severe lacerations to her leg after a boat ran over her Saturday on Whitefish Lake, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office reported.

Maria Nerness fell off the front of an inboard wakeboard boat driven by Thomas Ryan, 24, Denver. Nerness suffered severe lacerations to her leg after the boat ran over her. North Memorial Air Care transported Nerness from the scene to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. She was in critical condition on Monday.

Ryan was arrested on suspicion of boating under the influence. The incident is still under investigation.

The incident was reported at 6:30 p.m.

The sheriff's office was assisted by the Crosslake and Pequot Lakes police departments and the Ideal Fire Department.
