BEMIDJI - A man is in custody after a high-speed chase Tuesday night ended with shots fired on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota.
Timothy Scott, 33, of Grygla, faces charges of driving while intoxicated, felony fleeing a peace officer and first-degree assault and is being held at the Beltrami County Jail in Bemidji.
According to authorities, Scott was spotted by a Minnesota State Trooper traveling east on U.S. Highway 2 west of Wilton at 84 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone. When the trooper attempted to stop the truck, Scott increased his speed, turned north on Minnesota Highway 89 and continued at speeds of more than 90 mph, according to a release from the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office. The trooper reported Scott was swerving at oncoming vehicles, the release said.
Beltrami County deputies and Bemidji Police officers joined in the pursuit. Scott continued north at high speeds and drove onto the Red Lake Indian Reservation, where tribal police officers deployed stop sticks and took over the chase from the State Patrol and Beltrami County deputies.
Scott turned eastbound on Minnesota Highway 1 and drove into the western edge of the town of Red Lake, where his front left tire deflated, but he continued to drive on the rim. He eventually lost control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch near the tribal police department.

As tribal officers and county deputies pulled their vehicles around Scott's truck, he accelerated and drove at a Beltrami County deputy who had stepped from his vehicle. The deputy fired two shots at Scott's truck as he attempted to get out of the way, and another deputy crashed his squad car into Scott's truck to stop it, the release said.
Officials then say Scott got out of his truck and grabbed a logging chain before he was subdued by officers and taken into custody about 10 p.m.
No officers were harmed in the altercation, although Scott suffered minor abrasions during his apprehension, the release said.
Scott was taken to Bemidji Sanford Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries and then transferred to the Beltrami County Jail.
