Hackensack motorcyclist suffers injuries in Cass County crash

A 23-year-old motorcyclist from Hackensack was injured when he collided with a vehicle carrying three others in Wabedo Township in Cass County.

Leo Andrew East was southbound on his 2009 Yamaha Motorcycle on Highway 84, south of Longville, at about 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, while 45-year-old Preeti Patel Macintyre of Marietta, Ga., was northbound in her 2008 Ford Expedition near Northeast Glenmar Drive.

While the vehicles were in a curve in the roadway, the Yamaha struck the Ford in the rear driver's side, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

East, who was wearing a helmet, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to St. Cloud Hospital. Alcohol was involved in East’s condition, according to the Minnesota State Patrol report.

Macintyre and her passengers, 13-year-old Erik Patel Macintyre and 10-year-old Neena Isabella Macintyre, both also from Marietta, Ga., were uninjured and were wearing seat belts.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office assisted at the crash site.
