For those interested in participating in something other than door-to-door trick-or-treating, check out the following events happening in the Brainerd lakes area during Halloween week:

■ Trixie’s Barnyard Halloween party planned

NISSWA - Trixie will, once again, host a Halloween event at Christ Community Church, 24646 Hazelwood Drive, Nisswa. Trixie’s Barnyard Halloween is set for 6-8 p.m. Thursday. There will be games for the kids, door prizes, food and candy. For more information call the church at 963-2626.

■ Brainerd Dispatch to offer
trick-or-treating

The Brainerd Dispatch will open its doors to trick or treaters from 3-5 p.m. Thursday. The Dispatch is located at 506 James St.

■ Trunk or treat at
Light of the Cross

GARRISON - Light of the Cross Lutheran Church in Garrison will again be hosting its annual trunk or treat from 5-7 p.m. Thursday. They will be serving up free hot dogs, marshmallows by the bonfire along with trunks loaded with treats. Come venture out in the haunted trail if you dare.

■ Trunk or treat at Our Savior’s

PEQUOT LAKES - Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes is hosting a trunk or treat event from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot. With trunks open and decorated, we will be greeting trick or treaters with goodies.

■ Trunk or treat at Shepherd
of the Lake Lutheran Church

GARRISON - Trunk or treat at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Garrison will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Go from decorated car to car (or “trunk to trunk”) to fill your bag with treats. It’s a family event with games, popcorn, warm drinks, prizes, crafts and more. Shepherd of the Lake is located on Highway 169, one mile north of the “Y” in Garrison. ■ Trick-or-treating at Woodland

Trick or treating will be offered from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland, 100 Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd. Little ghosts and goblins are invited to come by for indoor trick-or-treating at the Care Center and Samaritan Houses.

■ Trick-or-treating
at Diamond Willow

BAXTER - Trick or treat at Diamond Willow, 14396 Grand Oaks Dr., Baxter, from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday.

■ Trick or treat with McGruff

The Brainerd Police and Fire Departments will be open for trick-or-treating from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Trick-or-treating at the Police Department will be in the garage on the north end of the building. Children will receive a glow-in-the-dark silicone bracelet, stickers, candy and a treat bag. This Halloween Safety Event is sponsored by the Brainerd Police and Fire Departments, National Child Safety Council, Brainerd Patrolman’s Association, Lakes Area Law Enforcement Association and First Impression Printing.

■ Haunted hallway
at Pequot Lakes AmericInn

PEQUOT LAKES - Give the kids a warm and safe environment to trick or treat from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the AmericInn in Pequot Lakes.

■ Mall-O-Ween

The Westgate Mall will be offering trick-or-treating from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.

■ Trunk and treat at Crosslake
Lutheran Church

CROSSLAKE - Crosslake Lutheran Church will offer trunk and treat from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot. There will be games and activities in the fellowship hall as well.

■ Halloween carnival
at the YMCA

Food, prizes, carnival games, face painting and more will be part of the fun at the Halloween carnival from 3:45-5:45 p.m. Thursday at the Brainerd Family YMCA. All children under 9 are invited to this event.
