The Brainerd Public Library will host a class on "Playing with Hand-Dyed Color" from 2-3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Karla Overland of Cherrywood Fabrics in Baxter will discuss the elements of fabric dyeing. Participants will make a simple fused bookmark on cardstock.

Cherrywood Fabrics makes hand-dyed quilting fabric that has the real look of suede. The company applies its privately designed line of colors to high quality fabrics to offer the best product for artists' creative needs. The hand-dyeing process Cherrywood Fabrics has used over 25 years produces a tone-on-tone texture that reads as a solid, but has depth and variety.

Those who wish to participate in the class will need to register by calling the library at 218-829- 5574. Space is limited to 15 participants.

This free presentation is part of a Friends of the Brainerd Public Library sponsored series called Crafternoons. Crafternoons is a monthly series where adults and teens can relax and explore their creative side with others who share their love of arts and crafts of all kinds-including coloring.
