The race for Crow Wing County recorder remained a tightly contested affair down to the last handful of precincts.

Doug Hansen and Mark Liedl will move on to the general election. Hansen received 1,463 votes. Liedl received 1,454. Brian Wallin received 1,271 votes.

Hansen, deputy recorder, watched results at home following online updates. He thanked Wallin for a good race and thanked voters for turning out.

"I'm looking forward to the general (election)," Hansen said. "I just need to go out and visit more people and get the message out."

Liedl, Crow Wing County land services director, could not be reached at his mobile phone for a comment and did not immediately return a message. Wallin also could not be reached for comment.
