Heartland Animal Rescue Team, known as HART, and all the helpless, abandoned, abused and neglected animals of the community are in desperate need of immediate financial help, the nonprofit organization reported.

"The community has always stepped up in a time of need. The past year has been a struggle financially and it continues to be," HART reported.

The animal shelter stated it lost impound contracts with several municipalities when they voted to use a shelter that didn't charge for services.

Those interested in donating can do so directly at the shelter with a credit or debit card over the phone or a check mailed to HART at 15494 Dellwood Drive, Brainerd, MN, 56401.
