WALKER-A 24-year-old Bena man died in a two-vehicle head-on collision at 5:16 p.m. Thursday, June 28, on Highway 371 in Walker.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported the Bena man, Seth Michael Raines, was driving a Suzuki Grand Vitara south on Highway 371 in Walker when he crossed the centerline, striking head-on a Chevy Silverado, driven by Ricklin Ervin Schmidtke, 62, Walker. Schmidtke was privately transported to Sanford Medical in Bemidji for non-life threatening injuries.
Raines, who was wearing a seat belt, died of injuries suffered in the crash, the state patrol reported.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office, Walker Police Department, Leech Lake Tribal Police Department and North Memorial Ambulance assisted the state patrol at the scene.
