Minnesota Rep. Josh Heintzeman, R-Nisswa, won the endorsement of Republican delegates from House District 10A Friday.
The endorsing convention was held inside the Mills Shooting Range in Baxter, and Heintzeman said about 50 delegates attended. Stewart Mills III, the GOP candidate for Minnesota's 8th U.S. Congressional District, spoke to the crowd.
Heintzeman said he and Mills both criticized DFL politicians in greater Minnesota for running on conservative social values, but then electing liberal House and Senate leaders from the Twin Cities metro once in office.
"It is somewhat disingenuous to run as a pro-life, Second Amendment candidate ... and then always elect St. Paul leadership," Heintzeman said Monday.
He also said he talked about "business-friendly proposals" and tax cuts for veterans and Social Security earners.

In a written statement, Mills called Heintzeman an "upstanding family man who fights for Greater Minnesota every day in St. Paul."
"Josh will always vote for what's right for our part of Minnesota, and won't vote for liberal Twin Cities leadership in our state House," Mills said.
Heintzeman is running for his second term in the House of Representatives.
