ST. PAUL--In a release Wednesday, Rep. Josh Heintzeman, R-Nisswa, urged passage of a package on transportation during the 2016 session of the Minnesota Legislature.

ST. PAUL-In a release Wednesday, Rep. Josh Heintzeman, R-Nisswa, urged passage of a package on transportation during the 2016 session of the Minnesota Legislature.

The release criticized DFL members of the Senate for "devoting less than 4 percent of the $900 million surplus to transportation" and also hit Gov. Mark Dayton and DFL legislators for pushing "a regressive gas tax increase and costly light rail."

Heintzeman said instead, roads and bridges should be the priority.

"The governor, Senate, and House have all stated that transportation is a top priority this session," Heintzeman said in the release. "Let's focus on the things we agree on, roads and bridges, and pass a bill that addresses these needs."
