BAXTER - Tom Hice lost in what he termed "a close miss" two years ago in his second bid for the Baxter City Council. On Wednesday, he filed to run again for the council.
"I'm very interested in giving back ... to make sure Baxter is heading in the right direction for businesses and residents," Hice said. "I would like to help lead Baxter into the future."
Hice is the third candidate to file for the two posts that will be decided this fall, ensuring a race for Baxter voters to decide.
The current council members whose terms expire are Jim Klein and Rob Moser.
Filing earlier for the four-year terms were Steve Barrows and Rock Yliniemi.

Hice, 42, is currently branch manager of the recently opened Baxter Loan Production Office of the Randall State Bank. He's a member of the Baxter Business Advisory Council. He has been in the bank lending business for about 15 years, previously working at Tower Mortgage, which he owned; and Guaranteed Rate.
Hice and his wife, Shelly, have two daughters. He has lived in Baxter since 1998.
His first bid for Baxter City Council, which was unsuccessful, was about 10 years ago, he said.
