Highway 169 crash injures 9-year-old boy

ONAMIA-A 9-year-old passenger was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 11:05 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, on Highway 169, south of Onamia.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported a Chevrolet Impala was traveling west on 330th Street when it turned to go south onto Highway 169, pulling out in front of the Toyota Sienna van traveling south on Highway 169. The Toyota struck the Impala.

The passenger in the Impala, Austin N. Smith of Albert Lea, was transported to Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia for a non-life-threatening injury to his arm.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Mercedes M. Bain, 28, Albert Lea, and the driver of the van, Joanne K. Dahinden, 59, Hillman were not injured.

The state patrol reported the road conditions were wet.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office assisted the state patrol at the scene.
