Highway 18 crash involves 3 vehicles, 1 airlifted to hospital

One person was airlifted from the scene with others taken to medical facilities by ground ambulance.

Emergency personnel responded to a three-vehicle crash Tuesday night, June 8, on Highway 18 near Paul Bunyan Land, about 7 miles east of Brainerd.

The 911 call came in just before 6 p.m. The Brainerd Fire Department responded and extricated one person from one of the vehicles. Calls for assistance on the police scanner described it as a head-on crash.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office reported one person was airlifted by North Memorial Health Air Care to an unknown hospital and others were taken by ground ambulance to an area hospital.

The sheriff’s office assisted with traffic control as the Minnesota State Patrol investigated the crash site.
