A historical re-enactment titled "The Post Surgeon Makes a Call - History Player" will be held at several Kitchigami Regional Libraries in the Brainerd lakes area.

The event will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Brainerd Public Library.

Participants will discover what day-to-day life was like for a military doctor at Fort Snelling in the 1820s; learn about what modern medicine was like back in the 1820s; and learn about a military doctor's other duties, like keeping Minnesota's first weather records.

The event will also be held: at 2 p.m. today (Feb. 11) at the Walker Public Library; 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Crosslake Area Library; at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Pequot Lakes Community Library; and at 3 p.m. Friday at the Pine River Library.

This free Legacy Program is funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota's arts and cultural heritage.
